ABOUT ME
I have loved drawing and painting from an early age. This was recognised while at school. I was advised to go onto art college which I did.
I attended Harrow School of Art specialising in Fine Art. In order to achieve a teacher's degree I studied at Swansea University and School of Art.
I pursued a rewarding career in teaching art to pupils of all ages. I taught to 'A' level standard in comprehensive schools and at a top grammar school in Buckinghamshire before I became Head of Department in a private school where I taught for many years. I also became qualified to help children and adults with specific learning difficulties offering private coaching to children with Dyslexia. My career finished as a Teaching Coach of Literacy and Numeracy as well as head of the Art Department in a special needs school. I also ran an evening class for adults for the WEA.
Retirement offered me the opportunity to move to a place I could love, feel at home and the time to start painting again. I have an affinity with boats and the sea having been born in a little fishing village on the north east coast of Scotland. The longing to live by the sea again has always been strong. I knew instantly on arriving in Wells-next-the-Sea that this was where I wanted to be. How could anyone with any artistic leaning not be inspired by the beautiful county of Norfolk?
I have exhibited in several galleries in North Norfolk including Picturecraft Gallery, Holt and the Handa Gallery in the Maltings, Wells. I especially enjoy undertaking commissions because it is rewarding and gives me pleasure to see the happiness of clients when they receive their finished painting. Much of the work in my website has been commissioned.
